TEKAD Joins Canada Makes

We’re excited to welcome TEKAD to the Canada Makes ecosystem!

We’re excited to welcome TEKAD to the Canada Makes ecosystem.
With more than 30 years of experience in hard chrome plating, grinding, and surface finishing, TEKAD has built a strong reputation in industrial repair and performance coatings. In recent years, the company has expanded its expertise into advanced manufacturing through Directed Energy Deposition (DED) and laser cladding technologies, bringing innovative solutions to industries including marine, mining, hydraulic systems, and heavy industry.
What makes TEKAD’s approach unique is the combination of deep production knowledge with ongoing R&D collaboration. By integrating DED into real-world industrial repair applications, the company is developing corrosion and wear-resistant solutions that significantly extend component life while reducing maintenance costs and downtime.

One example is TEKAD®1000, a laser-cladded coating solution designed to replace traditional hard chrome in highly corrosive environments. Developed for demanding applications such as marine and drilling operations, the solution helps extend component lifespan while improving operational reliability and sustainability outcomes. Looking ahead, TEKAD is focused on expanding its presence in the marine and mining sectors while exploring future opportunities in aerospace and defense. The company is also actively collaborating with international research organizations, including Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute, to advance next-generation DED technologies for demanding industrial applications.

As additive manufacturing adoption continues to grow across Canada, TEKAD sees an important opportunity to help educate industry on the capabilities of DED and advanced surface engineering technologies. We’re excited to support TEKAD’s continued growth and innovation and look forward to connecting them with collaborative opportunities across the Canada Makes ecosystem.

Welcome to the ecosystem, TEKAD!
