Florianopolis, Brazil, October 6th 2026—During Futurecom 2026 at São Paulo Expo, Nanogrande Inc. and OAIS Cloud have entered into a strategic cooperation agreement to integrate Nanogrande’s advanced nanoscale manufacturing and archival-storage technology with OAIS Cloud’s digital preservation platform and certified repository environment. The formal signing ceremony for the agreement took place on October 6, 2026, at the Canada Pavilion. The event will mark the official launch of the cooperation between Nanogrande and OAIS Cloud in Brazil and the beginning of the implementation phase of the joint NDAS digital preservation initiative.
The initiative will incorporate NDAS—Non-Destructive Archival Storage as a new long-term preservation layer within OAIS Cloud’s infrastructure. Critical data is intended to be preserved on non-rewritable WORM (Write Once, Read Many) media and managed through the governance, integrity controls, metadata, auditability and access mechanisms of a trusted digital repository.
NDAS is being developed as an ultra-dense archival storage technology using Nanogrande’s expertise in manufacturing and manipulating materials at micro- and nanoscale dimensions. Its WORM architecture is intended to make recorded archival content non-rewritable, reducing exposure to attacks that depend on remotely modifying, encrypting or overwriting storage media.
OAIS Cloud will integrate this physical layer into its digital repository architecture, where preserved information can be packaged, monitored, validated and maintained with preservation metadata and integrity controls. The project therefore treats NDAS not as a stand-alone device, but as part of a managed preservation environment covering the lifecycle of archival information.
The partners are targeting preservation horizons measured in centuries rather than conventional storage refresh periods measured in years or decades. Actual media longevity, capacity and environmental performance will remain subject to engineering validation, qualification and production operating conditions.
Brazil: Sovereignty, Longevity and Technological Control
For Brazil, the partnership is intended to support a sovereign approach to long-term data preservation. This is relevant to the public sector, defence, historical, scientific and corporate information whose retention requirements can extend far beyond normal IT refresh cycles.
The first implementation is planned for OAIS Cloud-managed and controlled data-centre infrastructure in Brazil, initially focused on government organizations and corporations managing high-value, long-retention or strategically sensitive data.
The architecture is intended to complement the multiple storage and replication technologies already used in digital preservation. NDAS will serve as a persistent WORM layer within a broader strategy that can include online storage, active archive, geographic replication, integrity monitoring and controlled access.
Executive Perspectives
“The value of data is changing dramatically as AI and advanced computing become part of every industry. Our work with OAIS Cloud gives us the opportunity to apply NanoGrande’s nanoscale manufacturing expertise to one of the most important challenges of the digital era: keeping critical information persistent, trustworthy and available for future generations.”
—Juan Schneider, CEO, NanoGrande
“Digital preservation cannot depend only on software or on storage technologies that remain continuously rewritable. By integrating NanoGrande’s NDAS technology into the OAIS Cloud preservation environment, we are creating an additional physical layer of resilience for information that must survive technology cycles, cyber threats and generations. For Brazil, this also creates a path toward greater data sovereignty and long-term technological autonomy.”
—Roberto Carminati, CEO, OAIS Cloud
